"I am thrilled that we had such a fabulous day on Saturday - the weather was perfect and the new layout proved very popular with the public. We have received a lot of positive feedback from exhibitors, traders and visitors. I am aware that some people experienced problems getting to the show because of the volume of traffic and we are already making plans to ensure that this problem is resolved next year. The success of the show is the result of a lot of hard work and effort from numerous volunteers as well as our office team, not to mention generous support from our sponsors - I would like to thank them all"
Quote from Nickki Eden, Chairman, Moreton Show Society following Moreton Show Saturday 5th September 2009
The 2009 Moreton-in-Marsh Show will be held on Saturday 5th September. The Show will be based a few hundred yards further up Batsford Road than in the past; as the showground and the vehicle parks have been exchanged. The change of location will mean that the layout will vary from previous years, and a downloadable plan will be available on this website prior to the Show.
This year we are celebrating the Moreton-in-Marsh Show Societies 60th anniversary. This milestone could not have been reached without the help of our numerous volunteers - it is important to remember that the Moreton Show only employs one full time and two part-time members of staff - and it shows just what support we are grateful to receive from our volunteers. Things have certainly changed during these 60 years but not our basic principle of holding a traditional agricultural show.
The main attraction at this year's Moreton Show is the extremely popular motorcycle stuntman The Kangaroo Kid. Matt has wowed us with his dazzling display of daring feats in the past and he actually set a World Record at the Moreton Show for the distance jumped on a quad bike when he cleared 12 four-wheel drive vehicles in 1998. What will he be attempting to jump in 2009 - come along and see!
Local act Jive Pony are also performing for the first time at the Moreton Show, with two highly trained free working vaulting horses performing simultaneously in the Attractions Arena.
A "Field to Plate" display will form part of the new Countryside and Heritage Section at the 2009 Moreton Show which will feature hedging and walling demonstrations, the Land Rover Experience and a digger driver competition.
As well as this all of the usual fun of the Moreton Show will be found including livestock with all types of cattle and sheep along with goats and poultry, horses, Home and Garden classes, as well as Vintage Tractor Parades and Terrier Racing in the Attractions Arena.
After the unfortunate cancellation of the 2008 Moreton-in-Marsh Show we really hope that 2009 will be a Show to remember so come along with your friends and family for a great day out in the heart of the Cotswolds.
For all of their hard work to make this website happen, a huge thank you to the volunteers
Emma Eden, Martin Streets, Nickki Eden and Stuart Mace
